“Tuberculocidal” is a designation reserved for hospital disinfectants that have proven effective against Mycobacterium, a family of notoriously difficult to eliminate pathogens that includes Tuberculosis Mycobacterium.
Because Mycobacterium have among the highest levels of resistance among all bacteria, viruses, and fungi, effectiveness against Mycobacterium is recognized as a major antimicrobial benchmark that signifies an advanced level hospital disinfectant with considerably higher germicidal potency, which is also capable of eliminating a much broader spectrum of pathogens (FIGURE 1).
PermaSafe’s STEP 1 and CLEAN products are Broad Spectrum, Germicidal, Virucidal, Bactericidal, Fungicidal and Tuberculocidal Hospital Disinfectants that eliminates up to 99.999% of harmful bacteria and viruses, including SARS-2, Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA), Norovirus, Influenza, Mycobacterium Tuberculosis, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), E. Coli, Salmonella, Klebsiella Pneumoniae, H1N1 (Swine Flu), Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, Ebola Virus, Legionella Pneumophila and many others.
They also eliminate, and meet the surface disinfection recommendations from OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogen Standards for, HIV-1, HAV, HBV and HCV, as well as a wide array of other disease-causing microorganisms See Complete Microorganism Kill List Here.
The CDC designates any EPA Registered Hospital Disinfectant without a Tuberculocidal Claim as a Low-Level Disinfectant, and any EPA Registered Hospital Disinfectant with a Tuberculocidal Claim as a more potent Intermediate Level Disinfectant, capable of eliminating many more, and more resistant pathogens.
